Territory of Colorado, County of El Paso} SS:
We the undersigned citizens of the United States, desiring to form a corporation by virtue of a resolution adopted by an unanimous vote at a general conference of the Congregational Churches of Colorado at Denver Jany 21 1874 as follows:
"Resolved, That when this institution is organized the Board of Trustees shall have power to fill its own vacancies, but that two thirds of the Board shall be members in good standing of Evangelical Churches and a majority shall be member of Congregational Churches"
And pursuant to Section 5 Article 2 of Chapter 18 of the Revised Statue of the Territory of Colorado do hereby certify that the following is a true statement of the name, or title by which said corporation shall be known in law; the particular business and object for which it is formed; the number of Trustees and the names of the same selected to manage its affairs for the first year of its existence.
First. The corporation name of said corporation shall be the Colorado College.
Second. The object of this corporation is to locate and maintain at Colorado Springs under Christian auspices an institution of learning on the college or university plan.
Third. The number of Trustees of said corporation shall be not less than twelve nor more than eighteen, and Julien M. Sturtevant, Thomas N. Haskell, John R. Hanna, Washington McClintock, Nathan Thompson, Robert A. Cameron, Theodore C. Jerome, Edward B. Truhill, Richard C. Bristol, Henry McAllister Jr, William S. Jackson, Edwin S. Nettleton, Edward P. Wells, Henry W. Austin, William J. Palmer, Jeremiah E. Ayers, William A. Bell, and Dwight R. Heywood are selected to manage the affairs of said corporation for the first year of its existence or until the next annual election.
Fourth. The existence of the said Corporation, the Colorado College is intended to be perpetual,
